Goodbye to Xbox 360

Last night, I decided to put my Xbox 360 on craigslist. This was my first attempt to sell anyone on craigslist. I received about 10 emails regarding to my Xbox 360. Just hours ago, the Xbox 360 found a new home. The transaction was painless.

Team Wii and PS3 all the way! Not that I hate the Xbox 360, but I just don’t like it.

The Battle of Game Consoles

Despite the majority of online communities were anti-sony nowadays, I was lucky enough to get myself a Playstation 3 two days before Christmas. Lucky might not be the right word here, since I read reports that the PS3 supply had met the demand. First, I planned to get the PS3 in 2007 due to the limited supply before the holiday we all heard of. Anyway, I picked up the 60GB model at the local BestBuy. Puzzling around and did some more research for 2 days, I decided to keep it.

Here, I have all 3 of the current generation game consoles, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and the Sony Playstation 3. In short, I would say Wii > PS3 > Xbox 360.

Nintendo Wii:
It’s fun and perfect for non-gamer
Simple and yet power UI
Great controller
Always-on
Impulsive buy
Back by many old classic game titles as cheap as $5 (via Nintendo Points)
Opera browser
Tiny footprint
Pretty and virtual silence
Games at around $50

Xbox 360:
Hi-Def ready
Many game titles
mature platform (1-yr head start and learned from the original Xbox)
not too user friendly UI and occasionally lock up during gameplay
Jet-engine operation
External HD-DVD add-on costs $200
Confusing Microsoft Points system (US$1 =/= 1 MS Points)
Xbox Live membership (~$50/yr)
Boring hardware design
Able to talk to your PC as a media center
Lots of online content
Solid processor and GPU

Playstation 3:
A premium price
all-in-one solution out of the box
Blu-Ray drive built-in
HDMI 1.3 output
Lots of potential as I can see
Able to install Linux
Free Playstation store
Quiet operation
Sexy

In the past 8 months, the Xbox 360 did a good job and brought me into the gaming world. However, after I got a hold of the Nintendo Wii, it changed the way I play video game and it’s actually more enjoyable. Not to mention, it gave me a piece of quiet. I don’t need the Xbox 360 anymore since I have the Sony PS3.

Be back soon!
